Niagara Falls Canada Travel Guide

Welcome to my Niagara Falls Canada Travel Guide. We will most likely never forget the year 2020. Dealing with a pandemic was not something we could have foreseen. Additionally, it will be sure to leave a very large imprint in the history books.

I would like to think that there were some benefits that resulted from the pandemic. It would be a shame to think all of the fear, stress, anxiety, illness and death would be for naught.

The pandemic came at a time that I was at a crossroad in my career. and, it actually helped me to decide which direction to take. Consequently, I had time at home that needed to be filled.

So what was I to do with all the time on my hands? I believe everything happens for a reason, and at the time that I was contemplating that very question someone told me about a relative of hers that blogged. As a result, I decided to use this time to do just that and “Glammatravelblog” was born. Several months later, I decided to take my passion for travel a step further; and now I am a certified Travel Advisor, ready to help you plan the trip of your dreams.

It is time to get to the actual subject of this post. In fact, I am a woman with a passion for world travel that just happens to live in one of the biggest tourist destination cities in the world! As travel was not an option; I decided to explore my home town. As a result, I have developed a greater appreciation for my surroundings.

Niagara Falls Canada is truly beautiful. Located in Southern Ontario, it attracts about 30 million people per year. As locals we would always avoid what we referred to as the “tourist section” during “tourist season”. However, in 2020 we suddenly found ourselves with an almost empty city, giving me the freedom to make new discoveries.

I would love to share a few of them with you; to help you decide what to include on your "must see" list when you visit my beautiful home city yourself.

Whirlpool Aero Car

The Whirlpool Aero Car is an absolute must on your Niagara Falls Canada Travel itinerary! Additionally, it is an icon in itself built in 1916, and it has been running for more than 104 years. A Spanish engineer by the name of Leonardo Torres Quevedo designed this antique cable car. Suspended from six sturdy cables it offers magnificent views of the Whirlpool and the Class 6 rapids of the Niagara River. Very interesting fact, as you ride across to the other side, both sides on Canadian soil you will actually cross the International Border line between Canada and the United States a total of four times!

Whirlpool Adventure Course

One of Niagara Falls Canada newest attractions is the Whirlpool Adventure Course. Offering 3 self-paced courses including climbing, ziplining, jumping and swinging, there is fun for everyone on this cliff-side course. Be sure to check it out if fitness and adventure are on your to do list in Niagara Falls.

Niagara Falls Canada Floral Clock

Be sure to make time on your itinerary to visit the Niagara Falls Floral Clock. It was launched in 1950 and it is a beautiful sight to behold! Twice a season the plants on the clock are changed. As a fully operational clock kept in working order by Ontario Hydro, it is free to visit. Niagara Parks horticulture staff perform the upkeep. Also, there is a tower located at the back of the clock that houses Westminster chimes that greet each quarter hour. Furthermore, if the tower door is open you can catch a glimpse at the clock mechanism and enjoy photographs showing the history of almost every face design all the way back to 1950!

Niagara Falls Canada Bird Kingdom

Bird Kingdom in Niagara Falls is one of my favourite places to visit. As the world’s largest Free-Flying Indoor Aviary, you will discover hundreds of tropical birds as you explore the pathways throughout the multi-level rainforest. Also, you will meet friendly parrots and exotic animals at Bird Kingdom’s Animal Encounters. The ruins of the Night Jungle features owls, bats and other fascinating creatures. Last but certainly not least you may feed and interact with playful Lorikeet birds at Lorikeet Landing.

Niagara Falls Canada Dufferin Islands

Dufferin Islands in Niagara Falls is within walking distance of the Horseshoe Falls. It is full of beautiful nature trails and quiet seclusion. As well, it is a wonderful place to have a picnic or just have a little rest and relaxation. You will find the ducks and geese that inhabit the islands to be very friendly. They are accustomed to seeing people so don’t be afraid if they do approach you, they most likely think you will be feeding them.

The Falls That Make Niagara Falls Famous

Summing up today’s post is the incredible natural wonder that makes this area famous, the actual “Niagara Falls”. In Niagara Falls Canada you will have an amazing view of three waterfalls. The Horseshow Falls, the American Falls and the Bridal Veil Falls. We must not leave out the infamous “mist” of the Canadian Horseshoe Falls, if you happen to be walking there on a hot day you will be treated to a cool spray or if driving you will be able to clean your windshield.

Are you hoping to visit Niagara, but are not sure where to begin planning? I can help; as a local of the area, I can easily plan the perfect itinerary for you, feel free to book a call with me to discuss further.
